History

Sinenkani FC is one of the most promising teams in the South African football landscape in lower leagues.

Hailing from the Eastern Cape in Mbizana, the ‘Stubborn Nation’ as affectionately known was established to provide local talent with a platform to showcase their skills while promoting unity and sportsmanship within the Winnie Madikizela-Mandela community.

Sinenkani FC, semi-professional career can be traced to the 2019/20 season, where the club competed in the Alfred Nzo Men’s Regional SAB League.

Thereafter, the team has participated in the ABC Motsepe League Eastern Cape stream for a record six consecutive seasons.

Their highest league finish came in the 2023/24 season when they finished as log table leaders in the Third Division Provincial League (Stream A). While in the other seasons, the Stubborn Nation has finished as runners up, proving their strength in the provincial league.

The team also has a ladies structure which has recently finished the 2025 season as the Sasol League Eastern Cape Champions, the  highest honours in the province.

While the club has achieved remarkable progress, it faces challenges which evidently strike grassroots teams in South Africa, such as limited financial support, well-functioning facilities, and consistent sponsorship.

Despite these challenges, Sinenkani FC continues its dominance in the Eastern Cape provincial structures. As the team continues in its vision of nurturing young talent, developing players skills and tactical discipline. A prowess which Sinenkani FC clearly has.
